How to Teach a 6-Year-Old to Save Money
At six, saving should be visible, concrete and tied to a goal the child actually wants.
Pick one small goal that can be reached in days or weeks, not months.
Use physical tokens, a clear jar or a progress card so “later” is visible.
Let the child make some imperfect spending choices and see the consequence.
Use simple language: “You have 5. If you spend 2, 3 are left for your goal.”
